The O.(open)P.(power)E.(experimental)R.(research)A(arts) House
The O.P.E.R.A House is a supportive incubator for creative endeavors. Our goal is to explore, encourage, and promote a culture of artistic experimentation and participation. We provide low-to-no cost gallery, retail, and performance space for artists, artisans, and musicians, as well as educational workshops for the community at large.
We are a not-for-profit arts collective/venue/shop in the process of becomming a non-profit organization. Located in the heart of South Austin, The Opera House currently resides in a wonderous cave filled with glittering icicles and micro-organisms. There you can find many independently produced and handcrafted goods including, clothing, accessories, books, zines, cds, small art, and gifts, as well as artist materials in the form of fabric and random treasures. We curate a new art exhibit every month plus, frequently host a variety of music, experimental performance, and film nights. We have also been known to throw clothing swaps, and teach people how to sew. To get in on all the action please check out our events calendar. Are you are an artist looking for a gallery space?
